For artists inspiration is like an earthquake.... you never know when it's going to hit. However, you rest assured, knowing it will happen, probably when you least expect it.
Tonight while putting D to bed, I lay there thinking about nothing in particular, and that's when it hit. In the months since graduation, my creativity has been a little dry. Nothing has made me want to design, I've been in a mental fog.... until tonight.
My portfolio is good, but I got to thinking..... it was created under much stress. There was an impending grade lingering over my head. Portfolio was the last class standing between me and a degree. It had to be done in a relatively short amount of time, and I'm content with it, but not stoked. Now as I take a step back, I can clearly see what's missing!
My pièce de résistance lacks heart. It only vaguely represents me.....
This is a bitter sweet realization. It's both sad and yet somehow a glimmer of hope. In my mind I have already mapped out the frame work for a new collection which not only illuminates me as an artist, but as a person as well!
All I can say is, I'm looking froward to creating a collection that is entirely undoubtedly ME!
I'm excited! These thought came to me, wearing my favorite neon striped-pop art-sun dress, none the less :). Obviously this is part of my inspiration, as I'm sure you already know!
